REPORTING TO PARENTS Parents are welcome to meet with their child’s teacher at any time throughout the year to discuss development or concerns. Formal student reports are sent home mid-year and at the end of the year to communicate academic and social progress at which time follow up parent/teacher interviews take place.
HOMEWORK Teachers set homework in the class and in secondary school in their specialist subjects. All students are expected to complete by the due dates. A copy of the PVIS homework policy is available from the office.
EXCURSIONS Students will have an opportunity to go on an excursion during the school year. Minor expenses, other than transport, arising for these excursions are not included in the term fees. Costs for such activities will be kept to a minimum. Parents are often asked to help on excursions.
HOUSE SYSTEM Each student/family is assigned a ‘house’ on enrolment at PVIS. House activities take place throughout the year. The school has three houses which are named after the three national colours of Vanuatu. The houses are:
Elo (meaning Sun) | Yellow
Vanua (meaning Land) | Green
Nakabu (meaning Fire) | Red
The houses give students an opportunity to mix and get to know children across a wider section of the school. Sporting Events such as the annual athletics and cross country are particularly fun as the children strive to earn points for their house team. Once a week students are required to wear their PVIS coloured house polo shirt for their class allocated sports session.
