Our Curriculum
At PVIS we utilise the Australian Curriculum to build critical and creative thinkers who will become life long learners and active global citizens. The Australian Curriculum documents are adapted as appropriate for learning in Vanuatu.
YEARS K-6 English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education (HPE), The Arts, Design and Digital Technologies and French.
YEARS 7-10 English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education (HPE), The Arts, Design and Digital Technologies and French. In Year 9 and 10 students are offered elective subjects in Commerce, Digital Technology, Design Technology, Visual Arts, Marine Science and French.

ACER PAT Adaptive (Australian Council of Education Research Progressive Achievement Test) Australian based assessment conducted to assess student skills in the areas of numeracy, reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Typically conducted at enrolment and then twice annually. The assessment is used by teachers to know their students and support their learning. Note that NAPLAN is no longer offered to schools outside of Australia.
FRENCH is the LOTE (Language other than English) subject taught at PVIS. Regular French lessons are part of the secondary school programme for all students. Both primary and secondary schools have a specialist French teacher.
SPORT and PHYSICAL EDUCATION The school recognises that physical development is equally as important for children as cognitive and social development. The physical education and sport programmes have been developed to encourage individual and group involvement, physical fitness, co-operation, development of movement, competence, leadership, sportsmanship and confidence. There is an emphasis on variety, fun and a sense of achievement.
