Port Vila International School
Nurturing Leadership
Vanuatu is a unique place with a distinctive energy and character.
Here, Port Vila International School provides internationally recognised, quality education in a welcoming and inclusive community. Together, we share a love of learning recognising the potential of every individual.
We nurture a connected community through collaboration and communication and by genuinely investing in each other. We embrace diversity, different perspectives and foster an authentic celebration of different cultures.
Our student-centred approach to teaching and learning supports and encourages student-voice to empower global citizens who aspire to a better future.
By providing diverse opportunities that meet individual needs, we’re developing courageous future leaders for Vanuatu and the world that we want.
Our school started as Port Vila Correspondence Centre in 1985. Under the leadership of Faye Taylor, Port Vila International School (PVIS) became an educational leader in Vanuatu, providing International standard of education in English for Primary and then Junior Secondary for families in the greater Port Vila area. Moving to the Tassiriki site in 2008, the school has continued to grow and build the beautiful site on which it is located today.
Currently providing teaching using the international standard Australian Curriculum, adapted for Vanuatu context, PVIS provides a high-quality education for all. More than 20 different nationalities are represented at the school and at PVIS we celebrate culture and diversity every day.
In 2018, PVIS became an accredited South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) International School starting with Year 11 in 2018 and Year 12 in 2019. Completion of the SACE International, at the end of Year 12, offers PVIS students direct university entrance and further education options previously unavailable to families in Vanuatu.
