Year 2 have had a great start to Semester 2. We have hit the ground running with our training for the upcoming cross country carnival. We are also learning and practising our fundamental ball skills.
Our integrated unit titled ‘Our Solar System’ has already begun with students creating their own designs of the Solar System using a variety of materials. They are learning to understand that the Solar System is a fascinating place and also investigate the different characteristics of each planet. Student will also inquire into the history of space exploration and the changing technology that allows NASA to travel and explore further into space.
In Mathematics, students will be exploring a variety of concepts over a few weeks. This allows students time to explore each concept in depth and gain a solid understanding. Students work individually and collaboratively in small groups using a range of maths resources. Mathematics rotations are a large feature of our learning environment. The concepts being taught this term include; multiplication, measurement – including length, area and mass, recording and graphing.
Our dance production for Term 4 is also in planning stages. Year 2 will present a dance routine at the end of year school concert. The students all play a role in the choreography and planning of their dance routine. Students are already looking forward to this event at the end of the year. The Port Vila International School, end of year concert; is a popular event on the school calendar.
