Virginie teaches French from Kindergarten to Year 6.

French is extremely important in Vanuatu as it is one of the country’s official languages.

What we do

Learning a new language opens children’s minds and we embrace the differences of other cultures by learning French.

What we’ve been up to recently

This year the teaching of French at PVIS has had a ‘revolution’!

We have changed the way we teach French with fantastic results. We are using the AIM programmewhich stands for the Accelerated Integrated Method.

A pared down vocabulary is matched with a sign, so instead of just learning French we:

Move in French
Dance in French,
Play in French!

Years 3-6 have French Immersion classes where both the classroom teacher and the French teacher dual teach. These lessons are predominately art, studying Picasso, Matisse and other famous artists.
