Year 7: Students are investigating the changes that occur during the adolescent years and how to positively manage these. They are developing an understanding of circuit training as a method for increasing their cardiovascular fitness and they will also be building peer connections and communication skills through modified games.
Year 8: Students are learning the benefits of physical activity and methods for creating a balanced lifestyle. They will also increase their knowledge of some basic first aid skills that could be required in an everyday life. Within Physical Education they are aiming to improve their personal fitness and complete a range of health and skill related fitness tests. Toward the end of the semester, they will shift their focus to the development of leadership skills.
Year 9: Students are analysing the effects of the media on the body image of teenagers and they are developing an understanding of the societal impact this creates. Students are also working to increase their personal fitness while learning and applying the different methods of training. Later in the semester they will focus on making educated choices with respect to selecting health products and services in the future.
Year 10: Students are learning strategies to keep themselves safe in respect to their sexual health. Students are also increasing their cardiovascular fitness through their participation in a range of fitness modalities. As the semester progresses they will participate in a dance module whereby they will create and then perform a movement piece to an audience.
